Bumper Bundle of Makes

A great gathering at Cornerstone Quilts yesterday with so many projects finished or in progress.
A few members unfortunately couldn't attend and we hope they are all well and able to get along next time but we still had so much to see and do.

Marg H almost finished her fabulous "Snakes & Ladders" play mat.
Well done to Caroline for finishing her first patchwork project so beautifully.
A cushion in Courthouse Steps pattern.
Debbie has almost completed her lovely cuddly baby quilt.
Kathy made several fun "mug rugs" towards our collection of goodies for our May exhibition. Too good to drip coffee on these!
Brenda made a really smart cushion panel from the remnants of the trendy quilt she made for her grandson.
Irene has moved on to some very effective blocks. Quite a collection  made from small remnant pieces.
Sue sewed together some of her strips which are half way towards making a lovely quilt.
Joan is getting along really well with her Cath Kidston style fabric quilt.
Mo decided to make a handy thread collector pot.

Marg M challenged herself to use up her scraps which she cut into squares then sewed them into random blocks. Great colour palette and fantastic result!

Jo finally broke into the jelly roll she won last year and decided to make a French Braid Quilt.
Jo also made an easy bag from left over strips.
(Full details of how to make this (here at JoZart Blog )

Super people and super results. Well done to everyone.

Christmas Makes & Catching Up

There's so much to catch up with all the super that members have brought in before, and since Christmas, so I'll post lots of pics without much explanation.
It's essential to record makes incase anyone of our group wants to make these items again in the future. They are here for reference and inspiration.

This superb Japanese influenced quilt has involved a long period of handstitching by Sue but here it is, almost finished. Very desirable Sue, and if ever you are giving it away there will be a race to be first in the queue!

Another Liberty Quilt from Jo, now winging it's way to Germany to grace her sofa.
Lots of Festive Makes....
A lovely swag of Holly Leaves from Veronica.
Another Feather Tree by Jo which is more effective in these fabrics than the previous one in dark green.
Wreath made with the craft felt bargain bought at the Malvern Show.
Snowflake Table Centre.... pattern available from Jo

Table Centre, really easy as it's just made from squares joined up in key points.Template over at JoZart Blog on 5th January
Lorna showed us her first piece of patchwork and quilting! Fabulous work and certainly one for our record.
Another from Lorna. Everyone loved this crazy patchwork quilt which is also one of her early makes. There is interest in us making blocks towards a group quilt in this technique.
I think we are up to date now but it's always exciting to see the "Show & Tell" at each meeting....... next one next week.

First Makes of 2016 and Poppy Project

Debbie is a fairly new member and at our first meeting of the New Year she brought along this fabulous giant sized handy bag.
A lovely make to start the year!
Caroline, another of our newer members, had been busy crocheting a couple of lovely blankets over the holidays, as special gifts, and was so pleased to show them finished. She has almost finished a log cabin patchwork cushion which we hope to see next meeting.

Over Christmas I heard an appeal on BBC Radio Merseyside requesting people to make poppies towards and installation within St George's Hall, which will follow after the Weeping Windows move on.
The appeal was at short notice, as everyone is so busy over the holidays, and the closing date was 9th January, but nonetheless, the ladies of our quiltiing group rose to the challenge and managed to make a small collection.
Sadly when I delivered them, with only one day to go, only around 20 others had been handed in towards the project.
Our collection included felt poppies, silk, machine and hand embroidery and even some beading.
Thanks so much to everyone who participated and now we'll wait to see just what comes of them.

(part of the installation of over 800,000 which was at the Tower of London)
Only one more week left to see them in Liverpool as they will then be moved to another city after 17th January.
