Classy Waistcoat, Bag & Star Quilt

Quite a change to see something other than quilts at our meeting and Mo showed us this smart, classy waistcoat she made for her husband. 

She also made a Dicky Bow to match from the lining fabric.

Mo loves to make bags and here is another of her gems. A handy portmanteau.

Marg M finished her beautiful big Star Quilt in blues and greys. Marg has done so well this month finishing quite a few lovely quilts.

Another to start off the Christmas mood....

Jo made an Attic Window Quilt after seeing the video on Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Quite an easy one to make especially with the good video provided by MSQC.

Well done to everyone this month.

As a group we've had a successful and productive month with so many excellent makes from our members. 

We have also welcomed four new ladies.... Joan, Caroline, Debbie and Trish. We are pleased to have them join us and they have all fitted in so well and are already making their first items.

We enjoyed a trip to the quilt show at Malvern and all had a great day out with lots of inspiration and plenty of treats to bring home. We also visited a good exhibition in All Saints Church, Hoole, after which we went into Chester for a visit to Liberty Bell shop and an Italian meal in the Trattoria on Bridge Street

Advent Calendar & Bird Quilt

We are getting a little seasonal with Cilla's fabulous Advent snowman. 

She'd love to make more but cannot find another panel.

Cilla also made this manger scene which is so cute and such a good way to teach children about the real meaning of the Christmas story.

Pat B made this striking, modern, bird quilt from fabric bought in IKEA.

 Pat made really effective use of the images mixing them with the perfect range of toning fabrics in a wonderful colour palette.

Some house blocks towards a row in a strip quilt.

This Tumbling Blocks Shopper, by Pat Mc, will come in so handy now we don't get bags in the supermarkets.

Spectacular technicolour here in Josie's completed Kaffe Fassett quilt.

Irene made a super windmill bag from such lovely animal print fabric. 

More September Group Makes

Pat Mc completed this vibrant small quilt and amazingly it is a Christmas design but just look closely at the images on the centre panel.

There are also some lovely words around the centre panel which can be seen in this closeup

Kathy is making good headway with her strip quilt with some lovely panels

Pat B has created an appliqued digger which will make a little boy very happy.

The close up shows Pat's quilting which echo's the shape of the digger.

Busy September

Pat Mc finished this super cushion from fabric left over from a small quilt. 

Such a lovely colour palette.
We have three people coming along to our next meeting with a view to joining us. We look forward to meeting them and I know they will receive a good welcome. Maybe these makes will inspire them.

Quilt Cornerstone Latest Makes

Each meeting, after we've enjoyed a chat, a cuppa, and discussed the necessaries, we "Show & Tell" the work in progress or items we have completed. It is an inspiring part of our meetings which sometimes is a little daunting when we see the quality pieces produced by our members, but there is joy in sharing and always so much encouragement if anyone wants to learn any of the techniques shown.

Josie has made all the blocks for her bright modern Kaffe Fassett quilt.... Anyone for tea?

Now for the job of stitching all around those super teapots.

I must split on Josie's dilemma but she almost had a disaster when she ironed on her Bondaweb then realised that she had adhered it to the front of all the teapots instead of to the back! All frantic attempts to remove it were in vain. Catastrophe!.....

 but .........Luckily she had enough fabric left to cut out the pieces again, so all was not lost.

Veronica is a fairly new member to the group and jumped in the deep end to make this Celtic Braid table runner. 

Well done to her for achieving such a good result.

Now for the wadding, backing and quilting.

Marg M arrived loaded with two fabulous huge quilts.

The quirky blue stars are so effective.

The next one is a mixed colour quilt on a nautical theme. It's not "I saw 3 ships come sailing in" but "I saw 30 ships come sailing in".

More to show over the next few days as the group has been extra busy.

We are now able to offer a couple of places in the group.

 If anyone can manage to get to Liverpool for two Wednesdays a month and would like to share quilting skills, fun and friendship, in a pleasant spacious environment, please leave a comment with contact info and we'll get back to you with details. We are a mixed level of skills, styles and interests and beginners are welcome but, please note that,  whilst we have occasional workshops, we do not have regular formal teaching sessions. We also make smaller items such as bags, hangings, seasonal decorations, and as well as our quilting sessions we organise days out to shows and places of interest. 

Come along and find out what goes on, just pop into the Millennium Centre (attached to St Mary's church in West Derby Village), where we meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 10am until 3pm.

The Animals Came in Two by Two

Flying and creeping in before the Flood

Lorna showed her latest clutch of creatures for her Noah's Ark Blocks. 

They are coming in steadily........of course, two by two!

The perfect fabric choices really make the animal characters so effective.

The finger indicates the size of these cute little bees and the snails above are almost as tiny.

Last of our "Show & Tell" items from our last meeting, but certainly not least,
Sue showed how well she is progressing with these lovely, and quite complex, blocks as part of her Strip Quillow.

Marg's Quilt and Sue's Blocks

A few weeks ago this quilt was shown in it's early stages and look at it now.

Marg brought it in to "Show & Tell"...... all FINISHED!

Every part of the panel has been beautifully handstitched around the designs.

Very effective Marg and a job well done.

We also showed Sue's blocks in progress and she has now joined many of them together and they are looking good.

This one, below, will go towards another strip of Sue's quillow.

Still more to come as Noah's Ark is almost ready for the Flood! Keep popping in.

Batik Quilt by Josie

Josie started this Batik quilt some time ago during her early days of quilting and at times had difficulties getting her piecing correct but she persevered and, with a little help and advice from some of our more experienced members, she achieved this wonderful result. 

Her skills are going from strength to strength and who wouldn't be proud of this super result?

She decided to tie the quilt and it really is the perfect finish to compliment the Batik fabric.
